Local Host Society
Founded in 1970, the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons Ltd (ASPS) is the oldest and largest peak body for Specialist Plastic Surgeons (both reconstructive and cosmetic). ASPS represent 93% of Specialist Plastic Surgeons in Australia. Their main role is to protect the integrity of plastic surgery as a specialty and provide the highest quality plastic surgery care to all Australians by:

Administering the AMC accredited Surgical Education and Training (SET) Program for all Specialist Plastic Surgeons

Producing scientific conferences and courses

Promoting public education about reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery procedures.
July 2026 marks the 9th Plastic Surgery Congress (PSC), the ASPS annual Scientific meeting. Since its launch in 2008, the Congress has attracted 500-700 local and international delegates.
The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons is honoured to host the 2028 Asia Pacific Federation of Societies for Reconstructive Microsurgery as part of the PSC program.

DR. ELDON MAH

​Dr Eldon Mah is an Australian-trained specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Melbourne, working across public and private practice. Founder of Parkside Plastic Surgery and the Scar Clinic, and consultant surgeon at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, he has extensive expertise in complex reconstructive surgery, teaching, research, and professional education. He is widely recognised for his patient-centred approach to restoring function, aesthetics, and confidence after cancer treatment, radiotherapy, or trauma.​

​DR. DAVID THEILE
​
Dr David Theile is a highly experienced plastic surgeon who has specialised in a broad range of reconstructive microsurgical areas across a 30 year career. He is currently the President of the Australian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. He was the Senior Examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a former Chairman of the Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He was also the Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane for 24 years between 1998 and 2022.

DR. SATOMI KOIDE

​Dr Satomi Koide is a Board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a special interest in oncological reconstruction, including breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction and extremity reconstruction. She also manages skin cancer, hand surgery, breast reduction and abdominoplasty.​
